Hiring for the 2024-2025 academic year

Thank you for your interest in becoming a STEM Navigator! The application period for STEM Navigator positions for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year is now open. We anticipate filling 6 positions. Applications will be accepted and positions will be filled on a rolling basis. Applications will only be considered complete when all required materials are received. As a STEM Navigator, you would be working with members of the HSI STEM学生成功小组, including Daniel Gonzalez-Albor, 茎顾问, 和宝琳娜·萨拉查·佩雷斯, Student Success and Support Specialist. In collaboration with the STEM Student Success Team, your leadership would ensure your STEM peers succeed in all the ways you have. 

茎航海家 are peer mentors that holistically support STEM students through timely referrals to campus and community-based programs, 服务, 活动, and 参与 them in various STEM related academic and career events. 茎航海家 参与 their peers through an integrated approach to co-curricular development, promoting educational and career pathways in STEM, peer advising students of academic and 社会 support 服务, and connecting students to deeper exploration of STEM majors, internship and research 活动. 茎航海家 can be found at the 茎港, located in SCI 223. 

茎导航器: 

  • Completed a minimum of one full academic semester at 澳门皇家赌城在线大学. 

  • 完成一门STEM课程. 

  • Currently enrolled at 澳门皇家赌城在线大学 full-time (a minimum of 12 semester units). If the student is an eligible participant in the Federal 工作研究 or CalWORKs programs, 最低注册人数可能有所不同. 学生 eligible for 服务 under the Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSP&S) program are considered in full-time status if enrolled in the minimum number of units as determined appropriate by DSP&S. 

  • Are in good academic standing with the highest GPA they can achieve.

STEM Navigator Responsibilities: 

  • Advance the goals of 项目五:STEM中的AIL and the 茎港. 

  • Collaborate with multiple on-campus academic and student 服务 and programs to serve and support students. 

  • Inform and actionably 参与 students with academic, 社会, and emotional support resources as needed. Ensures students have a strong understanding of available student support resources. 

  • Provide additional referrals to student support 服务 as needed or requested by students beyond the scope of the Navigator’s job responsibilities. 

  • 鼓励, 参与, 建议, and collaborate with STEM students from historically marginalized backgrounds with setting academic, 个人, and professional goals and hold encouraging beliefs in the abilities to achieve college success. 

  • Facilitate 1-1 and small group discussions or study sessions with various groups of STEM students. 

  • 鼓励 students to foster their existing cultural assets, 内在动机, 弹性, 以及领导能力. 

  • Co-lead and assist with the planning and execution of Project S:AIL/茎港 events with the STEM Success Team. 

  • Co-lead and assist with maintaining 社会 media presence. 

  • Maintain the 茎港 space including restocking instructional supplies and opening/closing responsibilities.
